Alas, our hero was captured following his adventures last week! In the midst of a relaxing weekend, our mild-mannered and gastrickened hero was suddenly pounced upon by the deadly clutches of the U.N.F.I.N.I.S.H.E.D. W.O.R.K.!!! [Ugly Neutered Fat Idiotic Numb Imbecilic Stupid Horrible Eternity of Death, Weathered Obnoxious Rugged Kerja]!!!

Our hero was repeatedly stabbed, forced into submission by this horid creature, but he fought hard, and with his one free hand, he called upon the powers of Ungray Skull!!! To grant him the powers of Multipurpose Man!!! [Tantaaraa!!!] With his new found power [which isn't so new since he had it for sometime now...] he beat back the beast, and with his multipurpose might, he sat down to finish off the last of the Orcish missions in Warcraft 3!

After completing the difficult bloodcurdling mission, our hero proceeded to bask in the joy of victory, when in that unsuspecting second, the beast launched a counter attack!!! Oh NO!!! Our hero is captured! Caught in the evil tentacles of this vile creature!!! Will Multipurpose Man prevail as he always does? Will he destroy the creature which intends to incinerate the 'prefect' weekend? Find out next paragraph, as Multipurpose Man battles this evil abomination!!!

And Monday it is... out hero leans back in his chair, staring at this yellow-haired girl... I mean.. the monitor... [gawd, my girlfriend's gonna kill me!] He stretches out and laughs to himself .. ho ho ho... The beast is beaten! With its last remaining strenght, it attempts to crawl back to its dark forbidden lair, but Multipurpose shall not let it live to wreck havoc another day! No... he will hunt down this beast and put it out of its misery!!! But,... for now, it's time to rejoice... our hero is going back home to rest!

Tomorrow, will be judgement day... for the beast named... U.N.F.I.N.I.S.H.E.D. W.O.R.K.!!!

On an odd note: Saw a car accident while I was having breakfast. A van backed out into a car driving past it. Resisting my natural Malaysian-born urge to look and do nothing, I stared back at my half finished half-boiled eggs, and proceeded to finish off the job. The accident matter was settled rather quickly tho... something that doesn't usually happen in Malaysia... must be Monday morning...

Our mild mannered hero, Kalamari, once again sits back to enjoy a nice quiet day after a long work-fighting session.

Among other things, our hero came across a puzzling riddle that left him stumped! Needless to say, the peace and quiet is soon to be broken, thanks to this riddle. Below is the confounded riddle. If any of you has any idea what it means, please drop our mild-mannered hero a line!

"I am small and round. I have a long stalk, and hard round seeds. Sometimes, I am sour. What am I?"

What is it indeed.... looks like a job for... Multipurpose Man!!! [tantaraaa!!!] Can Multipurpose Man solve the puzzling riddle? Can he free mild-mannered Kalamari from his prison of work? Find out tomorrow on The Multipurpose Chronicles!!!

Ack! No breakfast today! Gonna be a looooooong day... sigh!

And another hungry day ends for our Multipurpose hero! Working days... and the first tenth of the night... The F.L.A. brigade provided a tough battle but as usual, Multipurpose Man prevails, pushing them for an appointment the next day... or so he thinks... Find out what happens next, in the next episode of The Multipurpose Chronicles!!!

A bit of luck: My car which I haven't washed in ages and plastered with dried and mouldy bird droppings, was finally cleased when the sudden showers spoiled my Pow Wow session with the undisputed, unbeatable King BOOYA!!! Hmmm... well.. we can't all be winners... :D

Light note from yesterday: I had my lunch for dinner!

Light note from today: The dangling side lamp of my car is finally [temporarily] fixed. No more klak klunking all the way to work from now on!

Even lighter note from today: Switched to 'Light and Easy' while driving to work. Heard Ronan Keating wailing "You say it best, when you say nothing at all...". I agree with him! So I shut him off!

Personal experience: A good breakfast wakes one up in the mornings!

A barrage of sudden work overcame our mild-mannered hero, Kalamari. In a flash, he calls upon the powers bestowed on him by the great God Gaban and thus became, Multipurposeman!!! a.k.a. the Squid! Multipurposeman crawled through the bubbling remains of his desk, pawing at every corner he faces, in a desperate attempt to complete his work before the dreaded LUNCH HOUR!!! But alas, just as the skies were clearing, the evil forces of F.L.A. [ Free-Lancers Anonymous] burst into the room! Our hero was pinned to his desk by the very work he sought to reduce! And there he sits for the remainder of the day, desperately trying to escape his tormentors, and to reach the salvation of his Goddess... F.O.O.D. [Fat Oversized Obese Dork] ! Will our hero escape sure death? Will he be able to reach the safety of F.O.O.D?!?!? Will he be around for another episode of Multipurposeman??? Find out tomorrow on the Multipurpose Chronicles!!!

Two half-boiled eggs and a cup of tea. Nothing like a good breakfast to break that sleepy spell on a Monday morning.

RM 3.80 for breakfast and lunch is quite an economical achievement. I think I shall reward myself with a RM 2.50 Magnum bar afterwards...

Went over to campus last night to Pow Wow with the 'King". Received quite a beating in the process. Learnt a valuable lesson... don't close your eyes when sparring... Ow... my aching jaw...

Yesterday, I stayed back till they closed the office to finish up some work. As I was packing away my headphones, the Art Director asked me why do I carry those bulky things with me everywhere I go? I casually replied that I use them for games. Then, the supervisor asked me about the games I play, and before I knew it, I was asked to search for a Counter Strike installer so that we can play in the office. Looks like there's gonna be a change of office culture... more people are gonna be staying late for 'work'...

Today was a busy day! It started off slow... with not much work to do... [in fact, nothing]. Spent the time doing some R & D on sound editting before lunch at 1.00pm. After that, things became real peachy. The voice-over talents came by and I had to record their voices. Then I was piled on with some illustrations to finish and a storyboard to boot.

Finally finished the voice recording at 5.00pm, and managed to finish the illustrations as well. Spent a few more mins on the storyboard outline before deciding that it's time to go. Looks like I won't be going home so soon the next couple of days...

Work work! Work today was peachy! I didn't feel the time go by. Before I knew it, it was lunch time. And after that, it was like a wave of a hand before it's time to go back. And all the while I was listening to the Counting Crows singing "Mr. Jones and me... stare at the beautiful women..." Now I feel like strumming the guitar.

Spent the last five minutes of the day preparing for a voice-over audition tomorrow. Now, I can go home and finish off the Undead campaign in Warcraft... woo hoo!!!

Saturday, July 13, 2002

I received a call yesterday morning as I was going off to work. It was from one of the programmers, asking me to go to town with them to ammend a project that we're doing for a client. I spent the whole day in town and even missed a voice-over session I was supposed to have with some friends from campus! To the four of you, SORRY!!!

Twas a tiring day, but I spent the night visiting Kotak and then home for a long awaited session of Warcraft 3. The story was good... and I managed to finish the human campaign. The ending left much to think about. Finally slept around 2.30am, something I haven't been doing for sometime now.

Sat in the office this afternoon doing some test recording for voice-overs. The heat of the non-air-conditioned room and the bright flaring monitor is giving me a headache. I think I'll wrap up and call it a day... tho there's always warcraft...

Watched 'The Eye' last night with my cousin. Pretty interesting show for a cantonese movie. I give it credit. It sends some chills down your spine... especially in the beginning when you still don't know what's going to happen. It has a nice build up to it. A pretty interesting concept, tho it still has a lot of room for improvement. For those of you who intend to watch this anytime soon, shall not spoil it for you. It is a strong contender for a chinese sixth sense, but don't expect all that hollywood glamour. This is after all a low budget production.

Had the scare of my life just now when I couldn't open a file I spent over a week working on. After a quick reboot, I managed to open it! PHEW! Lack of ram... shucks...

Learnt a very important lesson today! When in doubt, [and even if you're not] always ask around if there's a better way of doing things.

I spent the past three working days, trying to touch up some line art in flash, only to discover, [thanks to my senior] that there was a much faster, and easier way to get it done.

The Kalamari is now wiser... purr purr purr...

I have always believed in a certain philosophy, that the more you get attached to something or someone, the more you suffer. That suited me well for quite some time as I was unattached to anyone. Recently tho, I decided to change my plea. After all what could be so bad about being with someone? Then, an old friend came along and started ranting about his relationship and all.

This friend shall remain unnamed for security purposes, but what he told me, gave birth to the philosophy I so believed in years ago. He was recently attached to someone, and the first few months brought nothing but joy for the couple. Then, as time passes by, they grew closer, sort of like a fairy tale thing [who wouldn't like this kind of story?]. But if there's a silver lining in every cloud, then there must sure be a dark spot on the sun.

So as it progresses, he became more and more fascinated with her. He became so obsessed, it would literally kill him if she didn't call. But when she did, he was lighter than air. The moments he spent without her were terrible. But the moment he did spend with her was bliss.

Now, anyone can see that he is one sick fella, and he sure is. But the thing that struck me this morning, was the same philosophy I heard years ago. The more attached one gets, the more one suffers. Ironic... but true. Sigh... off to another morning of work... and pray that my sandwiches don't get mouldy.

I don't have time to regularly update my blogs... I guess that's my only gripe... Condolences to Booya!!! Sorry to hear bout your hometown, and to Reins as well... [if she ever reads this...] I know how it feels like to have your home turn into a dead town thanks to a bunch of fanatical people who think that religion should take precedence over culture. Obviously they don't realise that religion was made to co-exist with the culture of the people who follow it. Unfortunately, fanatics are blind...

It has still been a while since I've updated this space although I've been working with FAST internet connection at my disposal for almost a week!!! Shucks... I guess I'm taking my time updating stuff. Well, now's my lunch break and I have a few tales to tell...

First off, oysters taste bad unless eaten with lemon juice. Note: Either way, they still stink, so enjoy the littles while you can, the big ones stink big time!

Secondly, parking in KL city sucks! You pay big money for little space and cramped roads.

Thirdly, alwyas pack your lunch if you work in Cyberjaya. There ain't no freakin place to eat around here for miles!!!
