Idiosyncrasy...

It has always been a habit of mine to over-tone the body shape of my characters. Rarely will I design a character that has no definitive body structure. For that, I have somehow limited my character designs to the athletic types (example below).

This has got to change...

Constipated...

I am constipated, I am choked. I am cornered. I feel suffocated.

My department is sharing office space with another company. Imagine this. A group of loud and brash animators, having fun all the while and joking while they work, next to a bunch of salesmen, who are trying hard to talk on the phone and hear themselves think.

No doubt my department got a sounding yesterday and we are now quieter than the mice on our desktops. I'm just waiting for the day when we can have a sealed corner to ourselves and no one to disturb us and snide and chide us on our 'relaxed' ways. People just don't understand animators...

Jubilation...(P.S. This post was supposed to be up yesterday but for reasons stated under the subtitle, 'Frustration', this was not so)

Statement: I am happy!
Euphoria: I have discovered that I am not afflicted with a life threatening disease that threathens to leave me a cripple for the rest of my amateur capoiera career.
Frustration: Some body cut of the internet connection again. Things like these should not have to happen in a multimedia company.
Jubilation: Lee. Name of x-woman with ability to project fireworks from her fingers.

Consolation (Today's post)

After finding out that muscle spasms are the cause of my discomfort in the lower back region, I am engaging capo training in a whole new perspective. The batizado of course contributed much to my shift in training priorities. From now on, I can be more focused on my weaknesses and work towards a more holistic approach.

Work has of course taken a new turn with me becoming more and more involved in work than before. Never have I faced such a strong motivation and drive to work. So much so, it scares me. But as long as time allows it, I shall continue with my personal sketches and stuff in the hope of producing something which people will look at and say, "Wow! What the heck is that?"

Candles

This is a picture I did which generated much controversy. No one understands art...

Things I have learned today...

- Candles can be very obscene.
- Sometimes bugging can get you what you want.
- Trivial things should not be taken for granted.
- Men should cry more.. it builds character.
- Women bond through shopping, men bond through porn.

Have a nice day.

Evangelion

I am an Evangelion fan! For those of you who don't know what Evangelion is, it is a Japanese animation with brutal scenes and brain-wrecking storyline! No, I am not an Evangelist, nor am I religious, nor am I afflicted with religion.

I just happen to be an average sort of guy who likes weird things and if I like weird animations and weird things, then that doesn't really make me average, does it, and why do I suddenly begin to write like Frank McCourt?

Obviously, this blog came about due to certain understandings in the form of how the industry works against us artist types. To the artists, art is an expression. To the bussinessmen, art means money! To the frustrated animator, art should never be compromised...

Have a good day y'all!

Capoiera Spawn

I have a Spawn figurine as desktop decor and to state my authority as an animator who doesn't conform to the stringent rules of the conventional and thus feels the unreasonable need to be different and instead of having pieces of origami or plants or other pieces of office stationery on my desk, I had to be different and place a spawn figurine and an Akira figurine on my desktop!

Seeing the hype of the Capoiera Baptizado and workshops coming up this weekend and part of next week, I have thus positioned Spawn in a 'queda' position (don't know how to spell the complete term...) and not Akira coz Akira isn't as mobile as Spawn and can only manage four positions which is standing up, lying down, standing up with legs pointing backwards, and lying down with legs pointing backwards.

Here's to a good week!

I am vindicated!

No, actually I'm not. Heck, I don't even understand the full meaning of the word. But doesn't it sound cool? Yeah, I have to admit it, I enjoy being silly without a reason. Just being myself, kiddish or childish or whatever you call it. It builds character, I believe.

Work has become a bit more motivating, and a bit less demeaning. Heck, a whole lot more less demeaning. Moving to a new location within the same premise has altered a lot. Working on a different project has done some good. Working with interesting colleagues has made coming to office less of a chore. It also proves, that not having a boss staring at your screen behind you and 'serious' colleagues being utterly silent all day improves productivity. All bosses should not be looking over their employees shoulders. It helps promote world peace!

Had an interesting weekend of capo and work. Looking forward to an even more interesting weekend of capo! Life is good... even if car prices aren't going down and petrol prices keep rising and Malaysian athletes suck coz cars in Singapore cost twice as much and petrol prices in Hong Kong are like RM 5 per litre and we're lucky our athletes suck coz at least we don't have people holed up in gyms to be blown to bits by fanatics who can't seem to reason with words, but rather with violence and I'm happy to be Malaysian no matter how sarcastic I can be and no one should ever take me seriously coz I'm hardly serious about anything except when it comes to my family and girlfriend (which should also be regarded as family)!

Life is good! Peace!
